Free Movies at Alamo Drafthouse - Friday, March 14 – Sunday, March 16. Kids age 3 and up, and their parents, are invited to see The Muppet Movie at at Alamo Slaughter Lane (5701 W Slaughter Ln, Austin) or Follow That Bird at Alamo Lakeline (14028 N US Highway 183, Austin) Pick up your FREE tickets at the Box Office on the morning of the screening. Movie on the Plaza (Round Rock) – Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. Bring your family to a FREE screening of Monsters University. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and pack a picnic or purchase food and drink from one of the vendors at the event! Centennial Plaza, 301 W Bagdad, Round Rock.
Flatstock 43 – Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Presented by Vans and the American Poster Institute (API), Flatstock 43 will display the works of the world’s top gig poster artists. Renegade Craft Fair: SXSW Edition - Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, from 12 – 8 p.m. The Fair will feature a curated selection of today’s finest independent Makers along with art installations, workshops, games, music, food trucks, booze, and more. Shoppers will find a variety of outstanding handmade goods at the Fair – ranging from cutting edge jewelry, stationery, clothing and accessories, to posters, housewares and much more. Browse this year’s line up of 185+ talented makers here. Expect a lively atmosphere at the fair, appropriate for all ages. FREE and open to the public. Pan Americana Festival 2014 - Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, from 4 – 11 p.m. The City of Austin and Bellas Artes puts on this FREE show featuring artists from throughout the Americas. Parking will be available at Sanches Elementary School, Martin Middle School and Fiesta Gardens. A shuttle will be running every 20 minutes to pick up and drop off at the MACC. Emma S. The Cat in the Hat- Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sally and her brother are stuck home in the rain, when a Cat comes knocking at the window pane! But the Cat has brought friends, Thing One and Thing Two, who make messes and problems and oh, what to do?! Mischief and mayhem and laughter galore, bring the kids—they’ll clamor for more! Ginger Leigh’s Love on the Lawn Showcase - Saturday, March 15, from noon – 9 p.m. Central Market on North Lamar will host this FREE showcase, which features local artists such as the Jitterbug Vipers, Wendy Colonna, Patrice Pike, Carolyn Wonderland and more. Ramble Creek Recording Studio Day Show – Saturday, March 15 from noon to 7pm in La Patisserie’s backyard. Hosts encourage you to bring a lawn chair and park on Annie, being considerate of the neighbors and driveways. FREE!! All ages welcome. La Patisserie, 602 Annie Street West.
Holi Celebration - Saturday, March 15, from 2 – 8 p.m. Radha Madhav Dham is pleased to welcome everyone who would like to experience Holi, the Festival of Colors. This year’s festivities will include: food booths offering delicious Indian dishes (chhola bhatura, samosas, pakoras, jalebis), chai (spicy tea); kid games and prizes, zorb balls, inflatables, Bonzo Crunch the clown and petting zoo; presentations on Hinduism 101 and the significance of Holi; Indian dance and other cultural performances on the outdoor stage; in addition to Holi play of colors with a Live Band and a Holi bonfire, that symbolizes new beginnings. At the end, there will be a joyful Holi Kirtan program on the outdoor shrine to conclude the ceremonies. This event is FREE and open to the public. Parking is FREE, and all are welcome. Mad Tiger Fest - Sunday, March 16, from noon – 5 p.m. A FREE family event for kids of all ages with music, art, food, magic and toys at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard. RSVP at Do512, although this doesn’t guarantee admission, as there are space constraints. Donations accepted at door to benefit Anthropos Arts, Sim Foundation, and Diverse Arts.
