Juneteenth 2013 - Gallery
Join us on June 22nd, for our Juneteenth celebration of culture, community, and music! This explorative and celebratory event, honoring African-American history, heritage, and culture opens at 3:00pm in Kenny Dorham’s Backyard. The event will feature some of Austin’s best blues, soul, funk, and world music musical talents.
And, this event is really a community party in the backyard, with a solid focus on celebrating Juneteenth very much in a traditional way: good food and drink, family fun, music, and community building in a relaxed and festive setting.
We hope you will join us and enjoy this great line-up:
· The Notorious Miss Lavelle White and Band
· The D-Madness Project
· East Side Blues Syndicate
· Ted Hall and The Pleasure Cats
· Omo Ashe’ African Drum Troope
· DJ Aquaman Chill
· And special musical guests stars
In the tradition of Juneteenth celebrations, we are presenting fine Northeast Texas BBQ and Tony’s Jamaican food, featuring ox tails, jerk, and curry. For libation, we are presenting a free keg from Live Oak Beer fresh from their brewery in East Austin.
Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. B.Y.O.B (cans and plastic only).
Join us for a day of music and fun as we celebrate East Austin’s vivacious community!
