Join us on Saturday, September 3 at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard for East Side Alive!: a monthly celebration of the East Austin Cultural Heritage District. In keeping with DiverseArts Culture Works’ mission to bring the best in multicultural programming to the East End, this event features poetry, music, and food that reflects a rich variety of interesting cultural traditions.

The Executive Steel Band headlines the evening, bringing their unique Caribbean-style steel pan percussion and smooth vocals to the East End, offering original compositions and modern rhythmic sounds born in Trinidad & Tobago and honed by more than twenty years of performing.

In addition to the music, we will have a variety of delicious foods for sale, including Southern Soul and Louisiana cuisine, tasty organic burgers, smoothies, kabobs and more from the Sun Farm Kitchens Co-op.

Bring your family and friends, your blankets and lawn chairs, and your favorite six-pack over to Kenny Dorham’s Backyard for a night of multicultural programming, food and community!

East Side Alive! is sponsored by DiverseArts and curated by Robin Marshall and Roland Lawes.
