DiverseArts Culture Works Artist Spotlight - Beth Consetta Rubel's Closing Reception

On August 1 our artist in residence, Beth Consetta Rubel, had her closing reception at the New East Arts Gallery, and although all of us here at DiverseArts are sad to see her go, we're positive that someone as talented as her has a bright future ahead of her.

In fact, she's already scheduled to participate in an event with Adrienne Dawes at the Salvage Vanguard Theater during their run of the play "Am I White?" on Oct. 6, so I'm sure that there will many more events in store for Miss. Rubel. I for one, will definitely be trying to keep an eye out for whatever she has in store in the future.

Despite the inevitable sadness that one feels when any kind of farewell is forthcoming, Beth Consetta Rubel's stay here really did end with a bang, and I'm not just saying that because that's usually the most commonly used cliched phrase when talking about these events. Actually, there were even quite a few literal "bangs" during the end of the evening (one caused by me after I managed to tip over a folding table when reaching for a bottle of Pinot Grigio while 100% sober) -- but above all else there was just a lot of people laughing and talking about art together and having a good time.

Maybe next time more of you guys will come and join us when our new artist in residence comes later this August? : )

(PS: Here's a bonus picture of Beth Consetta with DiverseArts creator and gallery owner Harold McMillan alongside a special guest because it's hilarious and I couldn't help myself!)
