"The Music of Correo Aèreo carried the audience to a new world with soul filled with beauty and courage. The instrumentation transformed the audience from distant observers to intimate participants in a struggle for a cultural voice. Abel's and Madeleine's musical creations are intricately related to the cultural origins of the people of Venezuela, Mexico, and Argentina. Their performance inspired respect about a culture and people whose voice is rarely heard and even more rarely experienced" Hamline University.

About Correo Aèreo (Air Mail) is an award winning acoustic multi-instrumental and vocal Latin/World Music Duo. Nationally and internationally touring for the past twenty years, they have performed and recorded the traditional music of Latin America: especially of Venezuela, Argentina & Mexico, as well as their own original music deeply rooted in tradition on stage, in feature films and on TV and radio broadcast. Together, Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin combine an array of string and percussive instruments with silken vocal harmonies described as “locked in intimate embrace” by the Austin Chronicle. Abel sings & plays Venezuelan and Mexican harp, guitar and Venezuelan cuatro. Madeleine sings & plays violin, maracas, bombo and jarana. They have issued four CD's. Provinces, Lo Que me Dio el Viento/What the Wind Told Me, Para Cantarle al Rio/To Sing a River, and their 2012 CD release, Semillas de Inmensidad/Seeds of Immensity.

Abel Rocha grew up in Mexico City/Distrito Federal receiving his first musical training and inspirations from his family. He first studied singing with his father at age 6, and with his uncle at age 10. At age 11, he learned bombo, cajita & cajon, and many other instruments by listening to records and attending concerts in Mexico City, inspired by national and international South American artists in political exile from Argentina, Chile & Uruguay. At age 15, he started his first formal lessons in guitar in La Pena de Los Folkloristas with professor and member of the band, Adrian Nieto. Later on, at age 17, he started classes of Mexican harp Jarocho style with professor Jorge Espinoza. Ramos. “I greatly appreciate and am endlessly thankful to my friends: Manuel Diaz, Ricardo Gallardo, tia Virginia, Oswaldo Hernández, and many others who gave me so many recordings, materials, and opportunities to listen to styles of music that were not easy to find in Mexico, and who nurtured the discipline of a self-taught musician. “ Abel co-founded Quetzalcoatl in 1985. They toured the USA and their music was featured in films, American Me, which they also appeared in, and W. I. Warshawski..He co-founded Correo Aèreo with Madeleine Sosin in 1992.

Madeleine Sosin has led a remarkable performance life as a classical violinist, dancer, theater artist, and for the past twenty years, as a singer, percussionist and violinist that soars in Latin American traditional music and original pieces created in partnership with Abel Rocha in their group, Correo Aèreo. Sosin grew up in Minneapolis playing the violin at 4, and, at 5, successfully auditioning to study with Mary West, who became her Violin Master and life-long friend. Madeleine’s mother took her to late- night Flamenco juergas where “the music stirred and flowed in my blood as a voice of my Spanish Sephardic Heritage.” At 9, Sosin was Concert Mistress and soloist for the Minneapolis Youth Symphony. At 13, Madeleine left home and continued to expand her creative expression beyond classical music, studying Flamenco with Susanna de Palma, hanging out with Gypsies and founding her first company, Kithara in 1974, a world music and dance company exploring and combining Latin, Spanish Gitano Flamenco, Sephardic, Arabic and East Indian traditions. Madeleine’s impressive acting career included study with Uta Hagen in New York and studying and performing with Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Ensemble. Madeleine has been involved, since her childhood years through her mother’s civil rights advocacy as a civil rights, environmental and peace activist. While touring a theatre piece in Santa Fe, she met Abel Rocha on tour from Mexico with the music group, Quetzalcoatel. “Abel opened worlds of traditional Latin American music to me. He taught me the musical forms, the histories and struggles that are embodied in the cultures of Latin America that we express as Correo Aèreo. “. They co-founded Correo Aèreo in 1992.

In addition to their CDs, Provinces, Lo Que Me Dijo El Viento and Para Cantarle Al Rio, the music of Correo Aèreo can be found on compilations such as Putumayo Records international release Music Of Coffee Lands II.
