DiverseArts invites you to join us as we celebrate the Holidays and host the closing reception for our current exhibition, New Work: 2 and 3D Art by Dallas-area artist David Zvanut.

The public reception will cap a full evening activity at New East Gallery on Saturday December 19, 2009. We hope you will be able to join us at 8:00pm to view the exhibition, and enjoy good conversation, light refreshments, and holiday cheer. This is your last opportunity for the season to take advantage of special holiday pricing on this exhibit and all consignment inventory in the gallery. For this event, we are discounting virtually everything in the gallery 15-25% for quick sale. In addition to the main exhibit in the Gallery, we also host additional fine artists and works on consignment. New East features a broad array of photography, prints, paintings, small sculpture, fiber art and jewelry produced by artists represented at the gallery.

Artists whose work is also available for sale include:
Black and Blue Bird Studios, Katrynka Ink, Sarah Temple, Beth McElhaney, Neil Coleman, Charles Randolph, Ricardo Acevedo, Gin Daniel, Cecilia Colome, Greg Broseus, Charla Wood, Gary Flemmons, Lauren Bristol, Terrence Moline, Jessy Price, Ed Watson, David Zvanut and others.

Fine art makes the perfect gift!

Immediately prior to the public Closing Reception and Sale, DiverseArts will host our annual Holiday VIP Reception and Fundraiser from 6:00-8:00pm. The reception features live music, gourmet appetizers and desserts from some of Austin's best restaurants, fine wines, small-brewery craft beers, and cocktails to complement the exhibition. Join us for lively social exchange with DiverseArts sponsors, supporters, gallery patrons, staff, and board. To be sure, this is a very timely fundraising event, as DiverseArts works to maintain our ability to operate our mission-driven fine arts gallery. If you are among those who want to assure that DiverseArts New East Gallery actually does exist in the next season, we really need your support now. The suggested donation for the VIP reception is $25 per person or $45 per couple. Please RSVP.

Advanced Tickets may be purchased through Paypal at www.diversearts.org. Email info2@diversearts.org or call 512-477-9438 to RSVP or get more info. Space is limited.

More About the Exhibition
David Zvanut David is a multi-talented artist whose paintings, glass mosaics, sculpture, and found/re- purposed object art shows a broad grasp of cleaver and ingenious methods to employ conventional (and not-so-conventional) materials to create truly engaging works of fine art. In his early career Zvanut was known primarily as a painter, but for the past many years his experimentation with mechanical sculpture, glass work, and various other multimedia applications has expanded his output to include exquisitely colorful mosaic panels, musical instruments as functional fine art, politically charged message-pieces, and whimsically fun decorative work inspired by his musical muse.

David's 2009 exhibit is a mix of new paintings on canvas and board, functional mosaic glass and metal sculptures (light fixtures, Timpani Drum floor lamp/table), and limited-edition fine art prints. Common threads through the pieces point back to his masterful skill with diverse materials, his love of bright colors in his palette, and Zvanut's knack for infusing a sense of musicality into most of his work. Whether the perceived narrative "appears" political in nature or simple whimsy, David Zvanut's work is always masterfully constructed, incredibly visually pleasing, intellectually engaging, and it---without a doubt---always communicates a sense of fun.

Please visit us at New East.  View the exhibit, and .....BUY SOME ART. You'll be glad you did!  Zvanut's work is on display in the main gallery for the rest of the year.

Please come by for a visit!!
